Birthday!

It's my birthday today! Yay! So, I got some stuff, (actually, lots of stuff) and I thought I could/should/would kinda review the ponies I got. So, in regards to MLP toys, I recieved the Pony Collection Set (virtually a bunch of blind bag ponies in a big box) and the Princess Celestia and Pinkie Pie set as well as the Princess Luna and Rarity set. Reviews after the break!

~Pony Collection Set~
The Pony Collection Set is a set of twelve solid (non-transparent) blind bag ponies in a big box with their corresponding cards. In card order (1-12) the ponies in the set are: Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Coconut Cream, Sweetsong, Skywishes, Gardenia Glow, Beachberry and Peachy Pie.

As a result of there being no Fluttershy mold in the actual blind bag lines, only in the Elements of Harmony set, Fluttershy and Sweetsong, who are represented by Fluttershy vectors on the back of the box, are unfortunately given the Rainbow Dash mold, which, for Sweetsong, looks okay, but not so much for Fluttershy.

From what I can remember, Coconut Cream, Peachy Pie and the other non-Mane 6 members of the set are all, if not almost all G3 upcycles. I'm not all that well versed with G3, but I definately do remember the name Beachberry as a G3 pony so I wouldn't be surprised if all of them are originally G3 names in the least. As G4 brushable releases, Skywishes was a pack-in with the Rainbow Dash Scooter set outside the US, and Sweetsong is a Glimmer Wings pony. The non-Mane 6 members of this set, with the exception of Skywishes, as far as I know, are exclusive to this set. Skywishes was a blind bag pony in wave 5 (Yellow bag with Princess Cadance on it).

Well, here are the names of the ponies and the molds used:

Pinkie Pie, Peachy Pie -- Pinkie Pie
Applejack, Coconut Cream -- Applejack
Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Sweetsong, Skywishes -- Rainbow Dash / Pegasus
Rarity, Gardenia Glow -- Rarity
Twilight Sparkle, Beachberry -- Twilight Sparkle

I have no idea if this set is exclusive to countries outside the US (I'm in Australia) or where to find it, as a friend gave it to me.

~Princess Celestia and Pinkie Pie / Princess Luna and Rarity sets~
These two sets are actually pretty good, and they come with a comb, which is, in my opinion, a good thing, as Hasbro seems to be stretching us out for combs recently (since the start of the Crystal Empire line). Luckily for me however, I got a bunch of singles from the Royal Wedding line (Mane 6 + Trixie, Lyra and an extra Fluttershy).

First, Pinkie Pie and Rarity are just basic brushables in that same static pose the vast majority of the G4s are in. They both have crystal highlights but no tinsel in their manes. Pinkie Pie's Cutie Mark is on her left flank and Rarity's is on her right.

The princesses, however, are a little more unique. Luna uses the Cadance mold and Celestia uses her own, however in this particular package she is white (yes, she is a Whitelestia, not a Pinklestia), however, she does have pink tips on her wings. Also, I believe that the only way Hasbro thought a white Celestia would sell well would be to package her with the pinkest pony around - Pinkie Pie. Both princesses have crystal highlights in the eyes like their Mane 6 companion, but they both have blue tinsel in their manes. Their wings are, from what I can tell, made of a yet another different plastic (the head is a softer plastic compared to the body so that the manes could be rooted successfully and that's why many darker ponies have slightly differently-coloured heads and bodies), however, I think that the two have a different plastic for their wings each. Anyway, the wings are inserted, one on top of the other, into a hole in the back.

The princesses also both have their own crowns/tiaras, with Celestia having her crown and necklace, and Luna has some random orange crown. However, neither princess has their shoes painted, even though on the backcard Celestia is shown with painted shoes. However, the shoes are sculpted, so if one really desired that they had their shoes painted they could paint them themself. Luna also has three hair clips/barrettes, and Celestia doesn't, I'm pretty sure this is because of Celestia's necklace.

Also, this may only affect my Celestia, but my Celestia has a soft head, and it doesn't exactly line up with the back of her neck. The softness of her head worries me a little because I don't want her to have either a sunken or sagging horn (these are not unheard of with ponies, a sunken horn occurs when, most likely the result of a manufacturing fault, the unicorn's (or alicorn's) horn sinks into her (or his) head, and a sagging horn is where the horn is floppy and sags down, becoming curved rather than straight).

So, with these Princess sets, the only things that kinda annoy me are the lack of shoe paint, and Luna's random orange crown.
